I watched Boris announcement of the lockdown and he said Manufacturing and Construction will remain open. What about businesses that install Gas Central Heating, will that be affected?
I am worried as our house has no Central Heating and we are in the process of booking a date for the installation but not sure if this is affected?
Anyone knows please..

I'm guessing that at the moment, if you watched all of Boris' announcement, then you know as much as anybody else.
Until details are published it is an uneducated guess1 -

Anyone knows please..Well presumably the business in question doesn't "make" the boilers, the radiators or the pipes, they just buy them from somewhere like Screwfix or somewhere wholesale and then get somebody to plump it all in and connect it all up. That may or may not be affected. Until guidance is published who knows?1 -
My wife was/is in the shielded category. Recently, we had PV solar and a battery installed. The Company that I selected had full CV19 procedures in place. Employee temperatures were checked before any work started. The site manager roped off our house such that any worker within the roped off area had to wear a mask and wear gloves: even on the roof. They brought in a portaloo. The site manager managed the in-house work such that the electricians did what they needed to do in one 2 hour visit. Hands were sanitised before entry and fresh gloves and masks were mandatory. All surfaces were wiped down after the work was completed.
Conversely, my daughter had some rooms in her house redecorated last week and the painter took no safety actions whatsoever. She is in a Tier 2 area.

And probably nobody dies as a result of either project. Wearing masks and gloves outdoors is utterly pointless and stupid - but of course it keeps Project Fear going and helps a few Facebook Karens feel good.

is installing central heating essential? i would suggest not. However its really going to be down to your installers assessment of risk for going in peoples houses AND your assessment of risk for letting people into your house that may well have been in lots of peoples houses....They are just broad outlines of course...as they might have been in empty houses etc etc0

Just find an installer who's not a coronaphobe and ask them to get on with it. It's you home, you do what you want.

This lockdown is being marketed as less severe than the last one and central heating firms/builders/electricians/plumbers were working throughout the last one. Some firms may decide not to operate so there might be less choice but I doubt it will have much impact.1

During the last lockdown several of my neighbours seemed to get work done on the basis that the house was not occupied at the time. One of them owned a motorhome which moved from driveway to driveway depending on whose house was having work done. They all moved out of the house before the workmen arrived & everyone appeared to be happy! They want the work, you want the job done, just don't go with British Gas!
