I've seen a fair few places with a big CASH ONLY sign in their window.whitesmith said:There is also the problem of finding somewhere that accepts cash...

Yet I've been regularly withdrawing cash on my credit cards for the last 20 years or so (both in UK and overseas) and never had any issues getting credit over that time. I have always paid off the withdrawals within 1-2 weeks to minimize interest. Pretty sure credit cards like the Halifax Clarity card wouldn't be so popular for overseas cash withdrawals if people's credit history/ratings was being trashed as a result.dahj said:
Cash advances are split out on the credit reports and regular usage will be viewed negatively by lenders.Zellah said:RobM99 said:Cash on a credit card is deemed to be a sign of desperation.
Only if you don't pay off the cash withdrawals promptly. Otherwise cards like the Halifax Clarity wouldn't be extremely popular for overseas cash withdrawals as vast majority of people tend to pay off such wifthdrawals fairly quickly without any adverse effect on their credit history.1
