Cash advances are split out on the credit reports and regular usage will be viewed negatively by lenders.  

Yet I've been regularly withdrawing cash on my credit cards for the last 20 years or so (both in UK and overseas) and never had any issues getting credit over that time. I have always paid off the withdrawals within 1-2 weeks to minimize interest. Pretty sure credit cards like the Halifax Clarity card wouldn't be so popular for overseas cash withdrawals if people's credit history/ratings was being trashed as a result.

Well, they said "almost all"; which is correct. There are hundreds if not thousands of credit cards, /almost all/ of which will charge you.
