I saw a squirell burying something in our local public gardens and there are no hollies or nut trees there.
I'm curious as to what it was but not curious enough to go and dig it up to see
Of course, they also dig stuff up!  The greys seem to have particular penchant for crocus bulbs...

Yes indeed, I just can't grow them here the little devils have them as soon as I plant them & I CBA to bother with usual remedies, wire mesh etc, far easier to go without and admire them in squirrel free areas

Wildlife in gardens, I'm on another forum , where a Canadian gardener had bears, they pulled his apple tree down climbing for the fruit, sometimes there's a limit to acceptable wild life :)

Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens

Yes, in the past I've had conversations with farmers about how best to keep elephants out of the maize and elephant seals out of the potato patch (but never both on the same farm!). :)
  • I second the bulbs thing.  Last year had a sweet little pot of mini daff bulbs, this year just a sweet little pot of nada bulbs (bar one).  I presume it is the pesky squirrel(s) doing 🐿️
Just my opinion, no offence 🐈
  • Recently I found a funny way to stop them from stealing and competing for food. I have invested in squirrel feeders, they no longer fight for food with the birds. I love how it effectively keeps them engrossed and distant from the bird feeder. I have bought a Horse Head Squirrel Feeder, it has become nothing but a pure source of fun and entertainment for my family. After hanging it on a branch of a tree, squirrels have been constantly eating there. My and the neighbor’s young children would watch the squirrel do their crazy antics just to have their share of the seeds inside.
