PayPal clearing old balance.

I have an old PayPal account no longer linked to a current card or current email address. Or phone number. I do not use the account but have a balance I had forgotten about. I only looked into this because mse highlighted the up and coming charge. Now the thing is PayPal have no means on contacting me. They will email me so they can say they told me about the charge but I will not receive that notification. They will only take fees out of inactive account balances so there will be no access to people’s bank accounts that raise the alarm on their money grab. I have forgotten the PayPal password and need to recieve an email on the email account I do not have access to to get a workable password. To make things worse PayPal will not change the details of An account without being able to contact you via the email address linked to you PayPal account.
In effect For people who have broken the account link to an email address like me, PayPal have found a very Cleaver way of taking money without anybody being any the wiser. You have to ask why PayPal are charging inactive accounts with a balance while not charging inactive people without a balance.

It’s hardly a clever way of getting your money. You forgot about it. You’ve lost access to the email address you used. You’ve forgotten your password, and changed your phone number. None of that is PayPal’s fault.
Why should paypal look after your forgotten balance for free? They’ve decided not to.You have two options, get access back to your email address or reforget the balance you had. Side note: if you can’t log in, how do you know there is actually a balance?5 -
It took me two weeks trying multiple channels to get them to talk to me on a live chat. They then gave me several false leads on how to close the account. This included email, internal messaging, messenger and direct phone calls. I even wrote to the managing director. They told me I had a balance and would be charged using that balance. I gave them as much information as I could to identify myself including a picture of my driving licence which includes my date of birth and current address which they can use easily to track to the address when I set the PayPal account up. All I wanted them to do was close the account and hand back my money. Your statement about having to pay to maintain the balance is a little odd in that they make money on the balances they hold. The thing that costs them is holding zero balance inactive accounts so why not close those accounts or charge them. It’s a simple money grab. As a matter of interest are you associated in any way with PayPal.0

Ahhh you nearly got a whole post without calling me a PayPal employee. No I’m not a PayPal employee, just someone who wishes people who forget their balances, forget their passwords, forget their email passwords and change their phone numbers would take a tiny tiny bit of responsibility for their own failings.PayPal is doing it’s job and keeping your money safe from people who would try and get it without being able to pass security. It’s your fault you can’t pass security. They are not gonna waste time tracing you through a drivers licence. The managing director didn’t write to you, at very most his secretary did but it was almost certainly passed down to a customer care team. The MD of PayPal doesn’t have time or the inclination to write to Tim1952 about his forgotten password...
I don’t know how much of a balance you have in there, it can’t be very much if you forgot about it, so it’s absolutely laughable you think your little balance is making them any money after costs such as auditing amounts held in balances, having accountants to keep all their assets in check, but yeah interest on your £50 or whatever is deffo keeping PayPal quids in...2 -

Tim, would you be happy if someone cleared out your balance by getting in touch with PP and not having an email, phone number etc but saying that they lost those? I doubt it.
how much money is in the account and when was the last time you used it?1 -
I am not going to reply since it is well known I work for PayPal, and Argos, and Amazon and Sainsburys and Tescos and Hermes and Post Office and Asda and Iceland and Screwfix and Anne Summers (on a good day).I don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!3

If you use the account its not inactive. If its inactive for over 12 months with money left in there one would hopeits money you didnt need. Or you could simply spend it which resets the clock again.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...1
