Tips please - Half my makeup ends up on my mask

It is recommended that you DONT wear foundation under your mask
Masks aren't smooth, they abrade the skin causing tiny micr tears in it in which the make up clogs causing spots, there is even a term for it - maskne
Does it matter that you aren't wearing makeup when your mask is covering your face?

Urban Decay do a travel size spray, 30ml for around £12.
Know it's not cheap but it is very good, worth trying IMO rather than end up buying several cheap products adding up to a similar cost which don't work well.
Also if you are needing to wear the mask all day then apply foundation to your forehead only and any other bits not covered by the mask.0 -
Constantly wear the mask and paint the outside to look like your made-up face?
Face tattoo?
Probably best just to focus on your eyes, under eyes and maybe where nose joins cheeks and you'll probably find no-one else will even notice the lack of anything else.

I’ve been wearing eye makeup only, with just a bit of powder to blend over the redder bits on my face (nose, chin) except for important zoom meetings where I do put on a bit of foundation - but obviously no mask then. Otherwise there is no point, foundation just rubs off and looks ickier imho to have a mask covered in makeup than to do without.0

I've given up wearing makeup in lockdown, I wear more expensive foundation and I refuse to pay it when my only outing is Tesco.
I have one of those scary faces too, but you can only see half of it when I go outMake £2023 in 2023 (#36) £3479.30/£2023

I still wear makeup most days, even if I am not expecting to go out or have any zoom calls (I have a few a week for work). My reasoning is that makeup expires so all my makeup (especially liquids that are already open) is slowly going off anyway. Not knowing how long this is going to last I'd hate to try and save my nice makeup only to find out, when I eventually go back to it, that it's gone off without me even getting any use out of it. So I reckon I might as well just use it. I feel that I look loads better with a bit of foundation and under-eye concealer and so it does make me feel a bit better even if no-one sees me. I am definitely in the scary camp without it. I did have a no-makeup day yesterday and had an unexpected zoom call from a colleague (who is also a good friend, so I didn't mind her seeing me bare-faced) and she did comment (in a jokey way that friends can) about how rubbish and tired I looked (I have REALLY bad dark circles that are usually well covered up!)annabanana82 said:I've given up wearing makeup in lockdown, I wear more expensive foundation and I refuse to pay it when my only outing is Tesco.

I may have had the same attitude had my foundation not ran out back in April. I do have a cheap one upstairs for emergencies.SadieO said:

We use Skype at work but it's not video enabled, again I would have taken a different approach if we had video.
We do have a Zoom social once a week, but I've only dialled in once. I should be leaving my current team in a few weeks so will have to make an effort as it'll be my "leaving do"
Other zoom meetings I go Clark Kent and pretend my glasses are a great disguiseMake £2023 in 2023 (#36) £3479.30/£2023

Maskne - now there’s a word I’ve never heard of 😂 Good descriptive word though. I don’t feel dressed if I don’t wear makeup even if my mask is covering it - a bit like not wearing underwear 🤦♀️Apintplease said:It is recommended that you DONT wear foundation under your mask

Maybe a solution/compromise is to wear makeup for yourself at home if you want, of it makes you feel good and you get to enjoy your decent products. If you need to go somewhere and you'll take off your mask when you get there, perhaps put on the makeup there instead of before leaving home, and if you're just going to a shop then only wear makeup above the mask if you really want to.
[I will never advocate for people feeling like they *should* wear makeup (especially just for going shopping) but it's good to have the freedom to choose, to feel okay without it but also to enjoy if you do want to wear it.]1
