Can't exchange contracts without long stop date

  • You’re crazy to exchange with no long stop date. You need to give them an ultimatum, long stop date or you pull out. Plenty of new build houses to choose from at the moment!

Don't do it. This building company is either in difficulty or think you are mugs. They would be the first to drop you if needed so play hardball

Just following this up, the problem was resolved by the building company's solicitor adding a rider to the contract which provides the protection I need if the mortgage offer expires before completion.

listen to your solicitor - they are there to protect you, that's what you pay them for.
if builder doesn't add the clause I would walk out, too big a risk otherwise
