Property boundary includes road. Rights?

I can't see any practical benefit of owning the road, but if the OP so chooses, at some point they can be awkward to force a random stranger to say "I'll do as I want, you don't own the road" and the OP can reply indignantly to declare "Yes, I do.". Only a short lived moment of triumph!
On a practical level, the OP should ensure that their conveyancing solicitor establishes any obligations of owning the road and rights of others in relation to the road.0 -

yeah but then could charge the owners of the end house 5p each time they wanted to drive across it....
Unlikely, as they should have rights of access across that bit of road anyway. However, it's not unknown for such things to be overlooked and if their deeds didn't show such a right then the OP's ownership of the road would indeed be a form of ransom strip. It happens - though not where the road is a public right of way for anyone to use.

Yep, we went down there after posts that said "mine, mine" followed by another talking of charging 5p to drive across the road followed by "it was only a tongue-in-cheek" ( confusing) post ...........greatcrested said:bucksbloke said:Check you transfer document, you will no doubt have a clause which gives other people rights.
