Hi
If I sell my flat AFTER I buy a house, I can claim back the Additional Dwelling Supplement.
What's the timeline for getting the money back and is it something I can do on my own or is it super complicated and would likely require a solicitor?

Yes, if no more than 18 months between settlement of the transactions. You can do it yourself. If by "timeline for getting the money back" you mean Revenue Scotland's current turnaround time for actually giving you the refund, don't know but I suspect the answer is "longer than you would like".

Our solicitor handled it for us FOC, which was nice, but you can handle it yourself as long as you have the correct details to input. From them submitting the reclaim to us getting the money was about 3 weeks. This was back in January 2019, I imagine these days it would take longer.1
