need help re currys saga

Options
today we had the egineer round (independant from indesit, not actually a currys engineer) and he said our fridge isnt working properly (no !!!! sherlock) and neither is the freezer. he said he was suprised that the FF is only 2/3 months old and could understand better if it was 8 or 9 years old. it isnt cooling properly.

however, they cannot give us a new fridge freezer as we have to have a 'pot man' come round first to see it/try and repair it and has booked one for next thursday.

problem is, we need a new FF replacement NOW. im about to have a baby and obviously need the FF to store food for us etc., and also the babys bottles.

does anyone have any suggestions? even the bloke who came round today said that currys are !!!! at aftercare service.

is there anything in the sale of goods act or anything trading standards can do? another week without a properly working FF, the food in the freezer is once again unfit for consumption. and even then, once this guy has been next week we will probably have to wait a further week or so for a replacement.

    Hi

Can't help you but I do sympathise - Currys are Cr**
  • talk to trading standards - I would say no to a repair on an item a couple of months old

did currys send the engineer round to look or did you contact indesit direct ?

irrespective go into the store - produce a copy of the engineers report and your insurance state that you need something done about it now- speak to the manager if nessecary.

trading standards are pretty crap thses days

an indesit engineer turned up thursda, the 3rd one weve had out, and he discovered after taking bits off the unit that there was a huge chunk of ice blocking the vent which is why it wouldnt work.

how and why it took 3 engineers to discover this i dont know. anyway touch wood now that he sorted that and added a new bit (dont know what) it is working.

mr mob had it out with the manager at currys and we borrowed a fridge for a £70 deposit. i did call trading standards who put me through to consumer direct who emailed me a template letter. i havent used it but its handy to have if it goes tits up again.

unfortunatley it isn't up to you to say no to the repair it's up to the shop as to which route they take (repair/replace) after the goods have been accepted.

depends what the nature of the fault is

it is down to them to prove the fault was not present at time of purchase

yes and then they can refuse everything - refund, replacement, anything. But once goods are accepted (say up to 2 weeks after purchase) then you are at the mercy of the retailer to refund or replace at THEIR discretion all be it supposedly within a reasonable period of time.
