Help Charged Twice !

Hi All

Stayed at a lovely B&B in Brighton a few weeks ago for one night. Slapped it on my flexi friend - the lady in the B&B had a problem with the machine - it ran out of paper and she had no idea what to do with it and at one point handed it me to see if I could put paper in it! Anyway she put my card through twice and said she had cancelled the first transaction. With no paper there was no way to dispute on the spot. I rang the credit card on the and confirmed it had gone through but they said just the once.

Anyway just checked my statement and lo and behold it has gone through twice! What do I do? Do I go to B&B or the credit card? Any advice gratefully accepted - this has never happened to me before!

Thanks in advance.

  • I'd say try the B&B first. They should have some record somewhere to say they've had 2 lot's of money from you.

They may be able to charge the money back to your account. Give them a ring.

If you don't get anywhere, give the CC company a ring.

I had a similar thing happen to me once, rang the CC compamy they looked at it and agreed that there were two transactions very close together. They sorted it out very quickly without any issue.

  • Thanks for your advice - went to B&B and they refunded no problem. I was worried because they were just a small place that they might argue over it!
