Smart meter problems!!

If you're refereeing to the shiny toy (the In Home Device, IHD) it doesn't connect to the internet. You don't have to be online to have a smart meter. However, the smart meter rollout has been a fiasco and there have been numerous ongoing problems with smart meters going dumb or not being able to phone home. There can also be interference problems between the Zigbee links used by the IHD and wifi.0

The useful info - ie meter readings - is on the meter itself in the garage or outdoor meter box. Read regularly.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0

Mine connects to the internet but it isn't paired with the account and no one can seem to make it display the readings. But we needed a new meter anyway so hey ho.

Some suppliers are supplying the Chameleon IHD3 with CAD or the Chameleon IHD6 with CAD. The only supplier that I am aware of that supports the CAD function (which connects to the Chameleon Cloud via the home WiFi) is Bulb. As other posters have indicated, to get the smart meter readings the IHD side of the device has to connect to the smart meter hub’ Home Access Network (HAN). This connection is part of the smart meter installation. The HAN uses Zigbee WiFi and IHD to smart meter connections can be subject to interference. Foil-backed wall insulation is a major culprit.
