For a home environment then "on ear" is perfectly adequate.1

It's pretty simple really. 'Over ear' headphones will encompass the entire ear whereas on-ear simply sit flush on top of the outside of your ear and are probably the best type for your planned usage.Annie1960 said:I've been having a look at reviews. I'm unclear whether to go for 'over-ear' or 'on-ear'. What's the difference? Pros and cons?1 -
If you want/need to be totally isolated whilst Zooming/Skyping then over ear headphones would be better as they generally provide more sound reduction from outside.neilmcl said:

If however you may still need to hear other things such as children calling, phones ringing or doorbells going then an on ear pair might well be better for you.1
