Cheap Energy Club slightly less broken: Neon Reef now appearing, but Avro still missing

Yesterday I noticed that Neon Reef was now appearing in the electricity results for the first time, but I still couldn't register it as my supplier, which meant that I wouldn't be alerted when a cheaper electricity tariff became available.

Wonder of wonders - today Neon Reef is appearing in the drop down list !

Sadly, the CEC still doesn't show the whole market: there are no results from Avro, and I still can't register my British Gas tariff.  However, it does give results from London Power, but that company won't supply me because I don't live in London. 

It's really disappointing that the CEC now seems to be far more interested in its commercial activities (Autoswitch, etc) rather than always getting the best possible deal for the consumer.  At every stage you're presented with options that are likely to result in a more expensive deal (=one that pays commission), and the option that gives the best deals is always the last one.  MSE used to be the site that one could always trust, but now it's becoming devalued by the CEC which is becoming almost indistinguishable from the commercial price comparison websites. 

So when comparing, it's still worth starting with Citizens Advice and 'Switch with Which?'.
