Furlough and holidays

I mean I’m not gonna feel guilty about someone dying no...

employers can top up the furlough to 100% if they want. They can pay whatever they want. What I can tell you though is taking 1 day holiday will never trigger a payment for 5 days in some ‘people won’t believe this one weird trick!’ way. It makes zero sense.

I would say either that company is paying furlough at 100% as a gesture of goodwill (mine did for the first 4 months although we did force some holiday to be taken too) or they've calculated it incorrectly and overpaid the employee/s... Either way, it's nothing to do with taking annual leave of 1 day per week.

Sorry how is that relevant. If anything you're minimising his life by even bringing it up. Why on earth would anyone here care?

In anycase look at it logically. You receive 80% of you pay per day; that makes it much simpler to work out.

You would - for the one day. So it does make sense to take holiday whilst on furlough; you'll get 100% of pay for those 'one days'.
