Hope it all got sorted vegastare. 😊

I went to Sainsbury's this afternoon and got what I wanted. I did the same last year - went to store, checked stock first  then applied for the voucher.

I don't find it a particularly user friendly offer what with the categories, not knowing stock levels,  vouchers going to waste if you can't get what you want  and not being able to use it online. But it's an offer not an entitlement I suppose but it feels like they're putting as many hurdles as possible in the way.

Can I confirm that you can use the voucher across different categories rather than having to stick with one category? I want to buy wine, books, household items with one £100 voucher.

Yep item is across the category - items you mention can all go through till together - but remember to get your shop slightly over as they give no change....ie  our bill was £77 today and we paid £7 otherwise if you used £80 vouchers for example you would loss the £3.  There was quite a few Taste T Diff wines but only one bubbly
My app worked fine this morning thanks Maman

Vegastare's right about no change. Mine came to £59.50 for £60 worth of vouchers so I just added another bottle. 😊

One thing I would check about mixing categories. The cashier called a supervisor to check the 'no change' rule because she'd never done it before. While we  were discussing what to do about the 50p shortfall she suggested I get something cheap like a candle in the seasonal ranges.  She asked me if I'd specified a category when I requested the voucher. I hadn't, but I wonder if I'd said I'd asked for TTD wines whether  I would have been able to mix categories. So I'd say, if there is an option,  don't specify when getting the voucher just in case.

I know that Nectar is a company independent of Sainsbury's but they don't seem to have had much advice/training on how it works. Sainsbury's staff seem to be in much the same position as Joe Public.

    Great-thanks for the replies
  • Can anyone confirm that I can exchange nectar points for double-up voucher via the app multiple times during the promotional period? For example, a £50 voucher one day, then another £50 the next? I'd like to exchange the full £100 worth, but not sure I can carry £100 worth of TTD wines in one go  ;)

    @Reason077

Yes, if you're using the app, you can get more than one double-up voucher:

"You then have a second window to exchange points for vouchers, this time via the Nectar app (available on Android and iPhone), from Wednesday 11 to Tuesday 17 November. There's no restriction on how many times you can exchange points via the app, and these will appear as digital double-up vouchers in your saved offers."

Can confirm this works as I've used two app vouchers on separate visits this week.

    Enjoy your TTD wine!  ;)

They could have incorporated it for online use especially with lockdown.
Its very handy you can dk it via the app and you dont need to specify a category like in the past.

I know Martin Lewis tried to get them to change it so that vulnerable people didn't have to go into shops but it fell on deaf ears. Black mark to Sainsburys on that one. ☹️

You have to spend the full £80. They only allow a round up for a max of 5p. So if you bought a console game for £49.99, you can do this with a £50 double up voucher.

If you added up your goods and its a few quid short of the voucher, buy batteries! They are on the list of what you can redeem the vouchers on plus you can have never enough at home. My friend who works for Sainsburys always suggests batteries to those who are short on the coupon value. They all take the offer up and plus they are right by the checkouts!
