Damage to Car, insurers not authorising works

The other NS... <shuffles feet>2

I've just had the garage call. The estimator is away but it was sounding like there may be additional damage to the rear of the car (in the area the insurer is already claiming is not accident related). What are my options here if when the estimator calls on Monday he's quotes me thousands of pounds for repairs, which the insurer is refusing to pay on??0

Good of the RAC to drive all they way to pull them out of a ditch, the OP wasnt even a memberSandtree said:0 -
A customer previously wanted us not only to put a recovery truck onto a ferry, which we were willing to do, but commission a special ferry because the boat only sailed every few days and he wasn’t prepared to wait. What do you expect from a BMW SUV driver that had flooded his car driving into a puddle that turned out to be deeper than he thoughtJack_Cork said:

Ferry charges are reclaimable from the customer, aren't they?Sandtree said:A customer previously wanted us not only to put a recovery truck onto a ferry, which we were willing to do, but commission a special ferry because the boat only sailed every few days and he wasn’t prepared to wait.0 -
Hi Adrian, I've been thinking more about this. If I was (or the garage was) to go with aftermarket parts, is that likely to affect me when I pass the car back at the end of the agreement? I called the dealer and Santander and they are both non-committal about whether using non-genuine parts is likely to have a big impact on the value of the car. Since it's a cosmetic piece I'm hoping it won't affect things too much (as insisting I used a body shop who are mazda-approved will end up doubling my excess for the works the insurer are covering, and no doubt massively increase the bits they currently aren't. Not to mention the insurers will no doubt make it extremely awkward for me to do this)AdrianC said:I presume they pulled you out using the towing eye visible under the NS tail light?
That does look to be damage from the incident... The bumper under-section has been pulled back and down.
Look on the bright side - even if it won't just fold back up, that's a bit designed to be sacrificial and easily changed, and it's a bit that there's going to be lots of aftermarket alternatives for even if the original part is expensive.0 -
Ah, yes, I was assuming you owned the car...
If it's going back to the owner at the end of the finance, then that is a very different situation.
