Santander bank charges

Hi, I am a newbie to the forum and would appreciate some advice.  I have a current account with them, and the monthly fee for this account is £5.  Of course now that the interest has gone down to 0.6%, the monthly fee takes most of the interest.  I can't benefit from the direct debits because I live on a boat so don't have standard household bills.  All I get for my monthly fee is a monthly statement.  Is there anything I can do about this because if not I may be looking to move banks. ??

Yes there is.  You ask them to convert your bank account to a non-fee paying one.

  • What do you want to "do about it"? As in can you get it back? No, if you're unhappy then move, couple of banks are giving free money to switch, it's easy to do
