Is my phone completely broken?

Options
Hi all. I have a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge (had it around 3 years) and other than a slightly quick battery drain, it tends to work okay. However, last night, I got a screen message about the latest update so I clicked to do it 'now'. It was the standard now, see details, later one they often get. I then ignored it for some time.

When I looked back the screen was blank and non-responsive. The battery had around 70% at the time so I did plug it in to charge but nothing happened, including no charging light. I am unable to get the phone to do anything and I have tried removing the sim, doing a forced restart and a factory reset but nothing happens.

Is it just totally done in now? A bit annoying that an update patch can do that. Unless I have been duped and my phone has been taken over by some evil forces???

If indeed it is broke, what's the scoop on mid to top tier phones? I was thinking Samsung Galaxy S10 or iPhone 11 or iPhone SE. Any thoughts on these? I use my phone for standard browsing and messaging, listening to Spotify and watching youtube. Just want a smooth operator at a reasonable price that will give me a few years before needing to be replaced.

No  probably reflashing firmware will cure problem .
Samsung tools for backup firmware updates first to try ,
Then XDA forums >> your model .

If it has had it, I can recommend the Galaxy S10 (I've got one) and it's a very good phone.
It does everyting I want it to (similar usage to your plus a few extra bits) and the battery lasts all day (depending on how much I hammer it).

Can you get the below to work?

    "Clear App data Cache

In addition to the hard reset process you can also choose to clear the cache. This operation might just fix a boot loop, which is an annoying problem that is often caused by the Android system. As you will see, all you have to do is to access the recovery environment:

    • Power off your smartphone: press the Power button once and select “power off” or press and hold the Power button for a few seconds.
    • When the shut down process is completed, press and hold the Power, Volume Up and Home buttons at the same time, for a few moments.
    • Recovery mode will be displayed on your device.
    • Select “wipe cache partition”.
    • Optional: choose “advance” and pick “wipe dalvik cache”.
    • When done go back to main menu of recovery.
    • Select “reboot system now”."

Another bet maybe to let the battery totally drain and then try powering it on in safe mode.
