Hi. Wondered if someone could advise.
My daughter part exchanged her car in December last year with a garage. The log book was filled in etc and she posted it off as normal. Just this month she has been contacted by the DVLA with a bill/fine for non payment of road tax £80.
They are saying they never received the log book. The garage she part exchanged it with have scrapped it.
The DVLA are saying it isn't her fault that it has been lost and it isn't their fault that it hasn't been received but they are still going to fine her!!
Any help would be much appreciated about where she stands with this!!
Kind Regards

I think I think she stands without a leg. Pay the £80.

If you haven't received an acknowledgement within a few weeks of the transfer you have to contact DVLA. This is set out on the V5C.

Tip for the future - do the keeper change online.
If you must do it by post, then make sure you chase up non-receipt of the confirmation.
Of course, the other question is why DVLA weren't notified of the car being scrapped, either...0 -
