Survey discovered structural issue

Hi All,
my surveyor has came back with structural issue and said needs looking at by structural engineer to provide clarity.
My surveyor is adamant this is vendors responsibility to do and not mine.
How should I best approach this should I just inform the estate agent?
Anyone else experience this and had push back.
I wouldn’t proceed with purchase without sign off.

I wouldn't rely on any SE appointed by the vendor. I can't imagine the vendor would agree to this anyway. I'd appoint your own to have a look.1

Up for negotiation really. If vendors arrange one then great, but (if you decide to buy) you'll need to end up with a report addressed to you so you can rely on it. How bad does the "issue" sound?0

We got our own SE after a survey last week. Cost £550 and I'm glad we did for piece of mind. Maybe I could have got vendor to pay, or halves but in the end it is small fry when thinking about the overall house cost0

Best to keep to one thread. Doesn't help those responding !2
