The £20 uplift applies to those on UC and Working Tax Credits only.
Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.

Everyone on UC actually gets the uplift and most unfairly no one on any legacy benefit gets it.

So if all kids get free school meal vouchers on uc and legacy benefits don't. That's not fair just because I am disabled.

What has the increase to UC and WTC got to do with free school meals? This can be claimed when claiming the legacy benefits too but it will depend on your circumstances. Being disabled doesn't entitle you to free school meals automatically.

Not all children with parents claiming UC are entitled to FSM - it depends on their earnings. I don't see the relevance of your disability to FSM entitlement.
    What benefits are you receiving?

What extra costs have you had since Covid? I thought the £20 uplift was to cover extra costs for those who have children at home, rather than in school during the day?

I don’t think it was ever stated that, but I could be wrong.

I thought it was as covid led to millions (maybe an exaggeration...) of new UC claims that these people were coming from work and now had to survive on UC, so the uplift was there to ease the transition between wages and UC. Now you can’t just split that group off from the people already on UC so everyone got it.

Those on legacy benefits have been on benefits for a long time and therefore did not need to adapt to a benefit income during Covid.
I don’t know that it was necessarily to deal with ‘increased expenses due to the pandemic’ rather than the sudden loss of income for so many working?

I’m not saying it’s perfect but whataboutism isn’t helping anyone.

I believe that's exactly why it was increased but they could differ those that were working from those that weren't in the time the exatra money was applied so had to give it to everyone claiming UC.
I'm still on the legacy benefits so missed out the this increase too but i haven't lost sleep over it! I actually saved money during lockdown because most shops were closed.
