  • Update: There is going to be 5 of these double lines and they have placed it outside the wrong house hence why I was not informed as it was going to be outside a house 2 down and they said they will look into it but I have a feeling it will stay.

    Did they give a reason?
A road closed at one end is a no through road, not a one way street. A one way, no through road could cause problems.
  • but I have a feeling it will stay.
It cannot stay without a TRO. It's likely they will come and burn off and reposition in accordance with the TRO.

It'll be cheaper to remove the lines and repaint, than it would be to go through the admin and legal rigmarole of updating the legal orders required to make it match.  They will change it - it just might take some time.

Perhaps you can find solace in knowing the lines are not legally approved, and can park on them (but don't quote me in court!)  :D

The local authority must by law have made a Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) to introduce the double-yellows, and that needs to be publicised. It does not need to be sent to every individual property, though. That TRO process includes a consultation period of at least 21 days.

Have a google for your local authority, road name, and "TRO" - you'll find the details.

One thing's for sure, they won't have just slapped some paint down randomly in the middle of a road for no reason at all.

Well, that didnt age well :D

It's true, though. They had a TRO, and they had a reason to slap it down...

    ...just not there...

All the paperwork was in order - the muppet with the brush just got it wrong.
  • Well i've got a small update from the council saying they will update me with what is happening to the lines in 10 working days.

It is being used a a passing place and the other 3 lines haven't been painted as no one will move their cars for the work to be done.

Though one guy on our street is loving it as normally he takes his wife's car out so he doesn't lose his spot now he comes and goes as much as he want and parks on the double yellows and is treating it like his personal parking spot which doesn't bother me except he goes out and come back around 8 times a night every 30-45 mins and cannot seem to reverse without revving his engine.

Just imagine all that unsuspecting traffic not able to escape from the no through road again! What we understand by traffic problems would have nothing on this one.
