Parking Eye CCJ unfairly on my credit score

Options
It was bought to my attention that I have a CCJ on my credit score I wasn't even aware of or notified about.
After applying for credit for a mattress this week and being declined I wondered why on earth that would be the case? I'm good with money with no debts and in the last 2 years I have even payed a mortgage off in full, so I joined Experian only to discover that the past 37 months I have had a CCJ, I truly was mortified.
I believe the CCJ is from a Parking Eye fine, however i payed it the CCJ even says satisfied. But i was NEVER told I would receive a CCJ, I payed the fine before it had come to that.
Does anybody know if there is anything I can do as facing another 3 years with bad credit really has shaken and upset me??? I truly feel like it has wrongly been added to my account and that I payed the fine to Parking Eye and never a county court.

You'll need to dispute it if that's the case, but it sounds more likely it relates to something else.

Also check your other files. A three year old satisfied CCJ shouldn't stop you getting mattress finance, which has very low standards for acceptance, so there may be other issues.

If your current finances are in good order why do you need to take out finance for a mattress?

Possibly because  the mattress was a good deal and the finance on offer was 0%, in which case that would be a fairly MSE thing to do.
    • The rich buy assets.
    • The poor only have expenses.
    • The middle class buy liabilities they think are assets.

If you paid within a month of the court judgement then the CCJ would/should not be on your credit file. But the fact it's there and marked as satisfied suggests you paid it after that initial month, so it will be on your file for 6 years.

Suggest you post this on the Parking sub-forum of the Motoring board, where you'll get probably about the best advice that you'll find anywhere on dealing with parking charges (it's not a 'fine'). In some situations it's possible to get judgements set aside, but the fact you've paid it may well mean that option is gone...

  • **UPDATE**
After much searching and phone calls it appears that the fine was payed with 1 day to spare, so the CCJ technically is wrongfully on my account. I have emailed the enforcement team at Parking Eye and hopefully i can have the CCJ removed.
