Morning from the lockdown loonie bin
For some reason they decided Tuesday was a better day to start our lockdown rather than Thursday mmm like 2 days would matter. Maybe if some people stopped thinking they were in some way an exceptional case then this could be over for all of us.
Anyways nothing much happening here as per normal. Spent most of yesterday helping my stressy friend with his interview presentation. The first attempt he had was a scrap that and start again one so it was long day. Will be glad when his interview is done tomorrow. He had a covid test yesterday ready for his hip op on Friday so another stress to add to his list.
As for me I radically decluttered my make up stock and nail polishes this morning. 10 year old eyeshadows and goodness knows how old foundations and lipsticks all headed for the bin. Might need to get a small stock of new stuff when I actually start wearing it again.
Another one here who had left over roast yesterday makes Mondays so much easier when dinner is already plated and ready. Today will be a simple one... ham and lentil soup from the freezer with some crusty bread
Have a good day all11 -
Hello all, it's still raining again today although I shouldn't really complain as it finally, after a few false starts became sunny enough to almost dry the bedding yesterday. I had to play the hokey cokey with the washing a few times before it finally made up it's mind to stop raining though. We got through to the car insurance people and got a few £££'s off, but then had to shell it back out to the van storage people as that had gone up this year. Oh well the thought was thereI made sweet chilli beef and rice yesterday for tea and it was delicious even though I do say so myself and it didn't cost an extra penny as it was all made from ingredients that I already had in. It was better than a takeaway apparently, but I don't know if I could make it exactly again.Tea tonight will be tortellini, chicken and ham I think, another leftover found in the freezer. I am trying to empty the freezer, but I seem to be filling it much quicker than I can empty it. I take one thing out and put two back !!We have to go out this afternoon, Mr Fix It has his flu jab in the leisure centre, they're doing it en masse so I'm glad we're in lockdown as there will be no-one else in there. Our cases are not coming down that much, we must be the only family in the borough without this virus
Personally I don't see the point of having a 2 week firebreak when all the children under year 9 are going back to school after a week. Seems nonsensical to me, but what do I know. Rant over.
Take care all, stay safe and keep well.nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently13 -
Morning all.
I've just skimmed through yesterday's thread to see what I wrote. I do enough repeating myself and like to avoid it where possible. It appears that I didn't post yesterday at all. Dementia is obviously crouched in the starting blocks and ready to go.
Anyway, nothing interesting to report so it's waffle as usual.
Camelot, please write and commend that man. I often send a note of appreciation when someone has gone above and beyond the call of duty. It has always been received with huge surprise as it doesn't often happen.
I think that we are all too ready to complain when things are not quite right, but not quick enough to give praise where it is due.
RedRuby, I hope and pray that the sale goes through smoothly. I speak from bitter experience as it took 2x1/2 years to sell my very desirable, right by the beach, 4 bedroom house. I had the same buyer for 20 months, but she had a terrible time with her buyers, including one who said he didnt have to get a mortgage but did and was refused, and one who gave them a torrid time with his various demands for 9 months and then pulled out 10 minutes before contracts were exchanged. She was actually on her way to the solicitors when she got the message. We all survived and she and her family are now happily living in my old house and I am ensconced in my bungalow that had similar problems to your DD's house when I moved in. Not drugs, but filth, rotten joists where things had overflowed and not been attended to, and electrics which were on the verge of setting the place on fire.
Anyway, I have everything crossed, except my eyes, for your DD.
Enough of my troubles.
Hope everyone has as good a day as weather and lockdown allows.
I seem to have a glut of eggs, so am planning an enormous omelette today with the last of my coleslaw/stirfry/soup vegetables.
Hope you are making notes mse monitors.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Time is a currency you can only spend once.I believe that friends are quiet angels
Who lift us to our feet when our wings
Have trouble remembering how to fly.14
