O/S Daily Tuesday 27 October 2020
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Still dark, air is cool, and rain is forecast for the day.
DH up and gone to work stupid stupid early, DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was chicken, ham and cheese kievs, chips and beans for the menfolk. This was swapped for a meal DH moaned about last week - he ate it with no problem. I had fishcakes and veg. I made a lasagne whilst I was cooking the dinner and organising pack ups last night - so that's tonight's dinner, with potatoes and salad.
Yesterday work wasn't too bad, we had times where we were very busy but overall not too bad.
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
Thanks for the start nmlc, hope your day goes in quickly.
Damp and dreary again but not windy which is a bonus. The wind over the weekend has brought off some more of the roof ends, will get someone to fix them this week hopefully.
I bought a Christmas present yesterday! DGS loves to sing along to the Disney musicals he watches so I've bought him a CD player and some CDs, perhaps he could learn more than one line of each song and sing it endlessly! I have to applaud my local Argos, the chap seeing everyone in and out was outstanding, fabulous organisation and cheerful and polite. I think I'll send them a message.
Nothing planned after work today, last night I opened the box with DGDs new scooter in to put it together and promptly put it all back, looks a bit complicated for me.
Hope you all have a happy Tuesday, take care. XX14 -
Morning all
Thanks for the thread Nmlc and hugs to all those in need.
No plans today apart from dog walking, housework and crochet, I finished a blanket yesterday and started a granny shawl.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.13 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. What a strange sky we have hereabouts - grey and red intermingled. Dry at the moment but heavy rain forecast. It matters not as yet again I am going nowhere. Aint life fun these days!
I have just been paying for stuff that runs out at the end of the month - tv licence, internet security and home insurance. Nothing to show for the big spend! I've also ordered a new battery for lappy as the present one doesn't last two minutes before it needs charging again and I am using it plugged in most of the time! Not very MSE!
I still have a bit of gammon lurking from Sunday so some will go in a bagel at lunchtime and the rest used up in something for tea. Maybe an omelette or perhaps added to a pasta sauce. Will see what appeals at the time.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all in need of them. Take care all and stay sane and safe x

Morning everyone
I had a day out in Edinburgh yesterday - not sure if I was 'allowed' to but felt very safe all day. The train both ways was practically empty and everyone wore masks . It's weird to see Princes Street so quiet, the shops were quiet too. I got a few Xmas presents and 2 pairs of boots for myself from TK Maxx - they were a bargain.
I really enjoyed just being somewhere different. I said to DD later if we'd been told this time last year that this year we'd be Christmas shopping with masks on, we'd have said it was a ridiculous idea!
Today I've got little one coming for the day - got a few jobs to do before she arrives, so I'd better finish my breakfast and get on.
Hope everyone has a good day13 -
Good morning, seems to be a quiet morning here, grey but dry.We might go for a walk later if it stays fine, there's not a lot happening today. Life is indeed fun TA !Yesterday was ok, did what I'd planned and that was it.Hope everyone has a good day today, take care folks14

Good morning and thank you for starting us off nmlc.
More rain, everything is sodden, squelchy and soggy. It stopped for a bit yesterday and I raked some leaves off the lawn as it was covered, more have fallen overnight but not totally covering the grass so it should be able to breathe. I know grass doesn't actually breathe but you will know what I mean. It is full of moss but my dad used to say moss is green, it matches the grass.
No real plan for today, the ironing is singing a siren song but it is useful being a bit deaf. I will sort it out though, no point in ironing summer things that will go into a box until spring, I usually put them away clean and dry, then iron when they come out again.
I hope everyone has a good day or if not totally good, not a bad one.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back13 -
Morning all.I was woken very early by a dicky tummy. ☹️ Then I just lay down listening to another part of a book. Later this morning I'm meeting an ex-neighbour for a coffee and chat. This is the third arrangement we've made, the first two were scuppered by the restrictions so third time lucky I hope.Outside seems bright though more rain is coming. I may manage a wee walk before it arrives. If I were at my own home there's so much I could be doing, especially in the garden. Here things are ultra-dull. Mind you, the dullness seems to be effective in keeping infections down, new data yesterday showed that this neighbourhood had the fewest recorded new infections this week. Other areas aren't so lucky.
Now it's time for a shower. Happy Tuesday to everyone.13 -
Morning all Still waiting and getting very peed off now I feel absolutely fine i will talk with DH later wether to take another test and hope we get the results or just sit it out for 14 days but this whole episode has left me quite angry . I may do some dusting today other than that nothing else to do I shall save the floor washing for tomorrow i wouldn't want to over excite myself. Gers enjoy meeting your friend . DP1 glad you had a nice shop . Right its pie night tonight so not much prep needed .
Have a good day one and all x

Raining here and meant to be all daywill have to put my big coat on to take the dogs out, they dont care if its wet or not they need to go, little one comes back like a drowned rat, I will light the fire after to dry them out.
DD has gone into work today so a day on my own, I have an online grocery shop to do and a few more presents to order for xmas although I am very nearly there, next job will be the dreaded wrapping.
Spag bol for dinner tonight with some chilli olives to go in it, they do give it a good flavour, I might make it this morning and then let it sit, it seems to improve flavour.
Things are still on track for the 13th Nov for dd's house, fingers crossed it all goes ahead, we had to have a plumber in yestersay to service her boiler (as part of the sale) he is a friend of ours and said the place stinks to high heaven of drugs and is filthy, there is also a new woman moved in with the ex with her two kids, she was in his words 'really skanky' what kind of a woman moves her kids into a house in that state !!!!
Right better get on have good days all xx13 -
Morning all..Not sure what the weather is doing here, it's a bit kaleidoscopey...changes every time you move your eyeballs...I'm getting on with the sides today, I admit, I have been procrastinating because I was worried about sewing such large straight things that have to be right, but I've bought myself a square now so at least the cuts wlll be straight, excoet where they shouldn't be of course. The added room from all the decluterring has really helpedLast nights supper was the same as Sunday, pork roast, and yes, I did do yorkies and stuffing. I can't see the point of making only enough for one meal, after all that effort I want to enjoy it more than once..But this means I'd better come up with something for tonight now...I can have a think later, I have a parcel to post at the post office this morning [ ebay sale, huzzah!] and then one side to start joining , hemming and grometting or whatever it's called. Let's hope my maths is accurate. I'd better get a move on because the next job is either a new washer or new kitchen taps. Blummin thing has been dripping for a while but I have been manfully ignoring it. It's getting too bad to ignore now, it fills up the water filter overnight.Right, have a good day if you can all, I feel for you in lockdown, I'm just wiaiting for our turn which will probably happen soon judging by the numbers last week. ANywa, stay safe, be good, invent crazy things! And have a top filled with joy Tuesday...Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi13
