Which Survey for House Purchase
Options

Hi All,
Looking do undertake our fourth move to a new house, I normally opt for a homebuyers survey on all properties I have purchased to date, they have been no older than 50 years and pretty standard construction.
New house is a 1960's three bed semi detached, again standard construction cavity wall etc..
However the difference is we are looking to go up into the loft within a year or so of moving in assuming all goes to plan (loft is quite big an unlikely we would add dormers as big enough for what we need.
Therefore I am keen to make sure that the house is structurally sound for this sort of work before purchase and we don't run into issues and lots of work roof wise before we undertake the work.
I am not clear if a homebuyers survey will give us the full information we need, or if a full structural survey is needed, the RICS guide shows a level 2 will inspect the loft construction etc so I am not sure what a level 3 would get us above this and if worth it as its a significant jump and generally the property is in good condition, standard construction and not too old.
We don't really need the valuation side either, as the Mortgage company is covering that aspect.
Welcome any advice that anyone would have on this if they have been in a similar situation.
Thanks,
Lee
