Can I part exchange if my cars driverside headlight isnt working?
Options
Basically i was wondering if i can part exchange my car even though the drivers side headlight isn’t working? Or should i replace it first then part exchange it?. My car is a Mercedes benz c class 2015. And the headlight costs about £500+ for a new or around £300 for a used one. Still on finance. I’ve never had this kinda problem before. Any advice would be great.

Of course you can.
But if the trader notices it's out (and they will), expect that to impact heavily on the value...
What finance is it? Is it even your car TO px?0 -
500 notes for a head light, no wonder drivers these days are reluctant to turn on their lights until it is pitch black.

Why can't the OP just take the car to Halfords and use the "We Fit" service to put in a new lamp bulb?0

It is probably one of those new fangled LED lamps, rather than the standard H7 bulb.
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

So, are people saying, really, that on a "new" typical, but premium badged family car, once it gets to 12 yo and a headlamp bulb goes, that's it - the car is all but a "scrapper"? Or is that only premium badged cars and something like a Fiesta / Focus will be fine?0

Personally, I would say that you would be wise to get it sorted before part exchanging it.
As the dealer you give it to won't have any idea of what is the cause of the problem and how long & how expensive it will be to fix, they will probably reduce the trade in value by an awful lot to cover any potential cost and you may well be able to get it fixed far cheaper. It seems that some headlight assemblies cost more than I paid for my first car!Grumpy_chap said:So, are people saying, really, that on a "new" typical, but premium badged family car, once it gets to 12 yo and a headlamp bulb goes, that's it - the car is all but a "scrapper"?
I don't know the exact model the OP has but this light is for a 2015 C-class coupe:

£1k for a headlamp!!!!! Parts only.
So, something like my 2007 Focus, in the future equivalent, would fail the MOT and be scrapped. Just for a blown headlight bulb. That is completely absurd.0 -
It can't be road legal, even in the daytime. No h/l flasher, no h/l in poor daylight visibility? No free lunch, and no free laptop0
