    Admitting you were the driver does not equate to admitting guilt.  
    The OP had gone beyond that, and accepted a fixed penalty.
    While that is not technically an admission of guilt, it does suggest that he/she had no viable defence.

    The OP's current problem is that they hadn't quite got round to that bit.
  • I had admitted I was driving the car. I was at the second stage, where I had sent the cheque and my licence. Just too late....

    You have admitted being the driver of the vehicle at the time of the alleged offence. That's not the same as admitting the offence.

    It doesn't matter whether he's admitted anything in the past. The question is whether he now admits it, by pleading guilty. He hasn't suggested any possible defence.
  • I received a letter today from the courts. They are letting me pay the original £100 fine and  will get 3 points on my license...... Lucky boy.
