    Go to the police
To report precisely what? They of course have nothing better to do than involve themselves in civil disputes.

I can understand why your parents might be concerned may turn up on their doorstep. It might have been better if you had given seller your address and phone number.
The car belongs to his mum. I wouldn't want to buy a car from a person who is not the registered keeper and at a different address.
Many do and it could have avoided the situation OP now finds himself in.
You have verifiable statistics to support that assertion?
There have been posts on this very site from those who have. There are other posts from those where the registered keeper is not the owner. I have not counted how many. Do you have verifiable statistics to prove I am wrong?

Whatever you might think, it seems OP lives with parents so this is a pointless discussion.......

With all due respect, you're the one who made the assertion thus it is incumbent on you to provide proof. ;)

    This I agree with . :)

On the other hand, if the clutch really is gone.........
But "the mechanic" hasn't stated that the clutch has gone but simply that it will break within the next week.
  • Always sell a car using a cheap pay as you go SIM card - then once the buyer leaves, the SIM goes in the bin.
Not useful now I know, but handy for any future sales.

We are not in a court of law, we are all on a free interest forum.  No one has to provide proof of anything, just give opinions.

Anyway, has there been any more news from the buyers?  Whats the story today?

Overkill, surely. Just block their number.

But what happens if they withhold their number or call from a different phone? I know that you can block calls from withheld numbers but does this work for messages? and even if it does, not everyone want to block withheld numbers.
If they wanted to make life difficult, they could easily get a load of free sim cards and call up on a regular basis and when the number gets blocked, simply switch to a new one.

They’re trying to have you over, OP; it’s probably a well trodden path for those people, and the more you engage with them the more confident they’ll be that their persistence will eventually pay-off.

I wonder what they’re up to today?; perhaps taking a whole trolley full of empty food cartons back to ASDA to take advantage of their “Love Me or your money back” offer.

    100% this.
OP if your advert is accurate then stop replying. They will get bored and give up or start court proceedings. I doubt it will be the latter.
