Bank Account / Current Account - showing 'late payments' on credit file

Options
Hi there
I have an old account from Bank of Ireland (UK- Northern Ireland) that for 8 weeks in 2017 was overdrawn by £4.46 (I didn't realise and whacked some £ into it when I got a letter letting me know to put it back into black).  On the basis of that my credit report for that current account is showing as 3 months of cumulative arrears (1, 2 then 3 months of arrears) as the 8 weeks spanned across 3 calendar months.
This seems a tad unfair to me and I have tried several times to tap to the bank but they just ignore me.
I didn't think that banks would report something like this on a current account in this way, and it's really denting my credit score even now 3 years later.
What's the story with something like this?  Stuck with it or any way to legitimately challenge it?

  • You have acknowledged it was overdrawn and I guess that was not authorised.
The bank has reported it correctly and no way is it unfair.
You'll just have to live with it until 2023.

Also, even though it's denting your pretend credit score, it's going to have very limited impact as far as lenders are concerned.
