Timeline for motability renewal

Renewals are done six months from the end of the existing award not twelve, I think (i may be wrong) that you can extend the lease form three years to four, i'm sure a neighbour did this not long ago. Found it here ..In certain circumstances you may be able to extend the lease on your current car. If you think you might be eligible for a lease extension, please make a note of your mileage and call our Customer Services team on 0300 456 4566 or complete the Request a lease extension form .0

You can extend the lease for up to 2 years, so 5 years all told.
If you only have a year left on your DWP award then Motability will let you keep your current car until your award is renewed as that should be settled by the time the year is out and your current award ends.
If your award was longer than a year then Motability would send you a letter to renew your car exactly 3 months before your current lease finishes.

Thanks, I had read that somewhere but thought it was only if you had very low mileage or had paid a large advance payment - neither of which applies to us.SkipTracer said:You can extend the lease for up to 2 years, so 5 years all told.

You are looking at £250 to change car.
They are not happy with people doing this, as they lose a lot of money in these cases, as car goes to auction. They can also refuse & block people who do this to often from the scheme.
As a aside why do you not want to keep the car?
Is it because you can't charge at home?Life in the slow lane0
