Vehicle outside the UK conundrum

They’ve no way of knowing where the bike is.
SORN it and then work out what to do once you know your plans. It may well be easier to sell it over there if you do decide to remain in the UK since the only way of getting it back would be in a van/ trailer.

I would agree with others, SORN the bike asap. It seems you are unlikely to use the bike for some time. Have you considered selling the bike in Czechoslovakia now?"A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

If he wants to use it in the Czech Republic then he needs to officially import it (and export it from the UK). In the event of no UK MoT & Tax (or the Czech equivalents) then its a back of a van job to get it back to the UK. For insurance use a broker, its too complicated for online. Lastly don't loose your paperwork as everything will be harder come 1/1/2021.

One thing has come to mind... I don't know about the Czechs, but a vehicle being permanently imported to the UK has to have an HMRC NOVA declaration done within 14 days of physical arrival in the country. There should be no VAT or duty due, but there is still a penalty for late declaration.0

The OP should bear in mind that there is no duty due at present because of the Tranistion Period. After the end of the year that may change (who knows?) - if there is a rule to register within a period of export / import, then that could be difficult. COVID only makes it all even more difficult, particularly with the bike being in Czech Republic.0

I did say I agreed with previous answers.
I added my own suggestion "Have you considered selling the bike". IMHO this would save OP a lot of hassle."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Hi, thanks for all the comments, very much appreciate it.I've now SORN-ed the bike. I don't want to sell it (yet), I plan on using it in the Czech Republic (once I actually move, hopefully!) and registering it over there.0
