Amazon HP Envy Promo code

Bought an HP Envy Printer from Amazon, no 4 month free promo code supplied. Wasted an hour with several Amazon employees. Surely this is not first time Amazon have sold an HP printer, "we will need to contact HP".
What a pain, if I connect printer without code I will not be able to use code?

They don't supply a promo code with the printer, you will be offered the 4 months free upon sign up provided you do it within 7 days of setting up the printer. They supply the promo code during setup of the printer.

You can of course look on the internet for additional promo codes to apply during sign up which will extend the 4 months.

There is live chat on the HP ink website if you have any problems.

I have tried to set up and the page asks for a promo code to activate the free trial. 
Live chat is a computer only, Messenger and telephone are not available today. WhatsApp is available. I have sent message but no response from HP.

When you buy a new printer and set it up either at 123.hp.com or using the HP Smart app, you are offered a free trial of Instant Ink. The number of free months depends on the offer at the time and the country of enrollment. You must take advantage of this offer within 7 days. There is no special code and the free months are automatically applied to your account. After 7 days, the free trial offer expires. To confirm that you received your free months, check the message on the Confirmation page just before you enroll, or sign into your account page at Instantink.com and find the free months under My Account > My Plan. Free trial months are not offered when you sign up at Instantink.com – only at 123.hp.com and the HP Smart app. Remember to take advantage of the free trial offer while you are setting up your printer!

That is precisely what I am trying to do.
When I log on to replace my old with new printer, using smart app, there is nothing about free trial being added.
There is a warning ... I must claim free trial when registering or loose it.

You guys were right. HP confirmed the free trial is added automatically.
