Crypto is fine.
A lot of hate from the older folk on here.
It's fine to speculate, but, do some research and don't speculate with what you can't afford to lose.2 -

There is no hate here that I can see - it's just that more experienced investors tend to have a better understanding of investment risk, and so they tend to clearly understand the difference between investment and speculation.I don't have any plans to purchase Bitcoin, and that's not because I "hate" it. It simply has characteristics which don't match with my investment aims. You can (and should) go elsewhere and get other opinions, but bear in mind that this is a forum where you are least likely to find any hidden bias. There are relatively few people here who have an interest in "talking it up" as an investment.3

I wouldn't invest my money in bitcoin.
It's had its day. It's all over now, baby blue.

Bitcoin isnt "an investment", its a form of money.
If I was a newbie, starting out in crypto and had £250 to devote to it, before buyng any crypto whatsoever I would buy either a Ledger or a Trezor hardware wallet, learn how to use it, and make sure that you have your seed words stored safely.
Bitcoin is not a get rich quick scheme - AT ALL, and avoid any scheme that promises outlandish returns, but it is a wild ride. One day you will wake up and have half the sterling value that you had the previous day, another day, it will be double. Swings that would turn the most seasoned wall street traders hair grey are just another Tuesday in crypto-world. If you cant handle that level of uncertainty, bitcoin is not for you.
You cant invest in bitcoin, but you can invest bitcoin.
There are two main types of interest bearing bitcoin savings accounts, firstly places like Blockfi which is custodial, like a bank, so you lose control over your private keys, or by turning it into wbtc (wrapped bitcoin) and investing through places like Compound, this is non-custodial, the wbtc goes into a smart contract and you keep control over your private keys. This is not entirely without risk tho, as there is still protocol risk of the smart contract being breached. (You can insure against this risk on places like Nexus Mutual, but thats pretty sophisticated for only £250). There's a comparison of current savings and loan rates available at Bitcompare .

I just came across your post and wonder if you ignored all the 'experts' on here & did buy Bitcoin? I hope so because you'll be sitting pretty right now!0 -
Was reading about Bitcoin Prime, which implied it is supposedly something to do with Jeff Bezos. Has anybody else seen this one?
It sounds way too good to be true, so I am presuming it is a scam.
Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0 -
