I have recently put in some raised flower beds and now cats are using them to poop in! 🙈
I've looked at sonic deterrents, pellets etc but most of the reviews I've read are less than positive - has anyone got any tried and tested ideas that actually work but don't harm or deter other creatures?

Nothing works except a physical barrier
Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens2 -
I found crushed moth balls worked in my garden. need to replace them after heavy rain but not an expensive option. Also deterred dogs doing their business on the grass verge in front of my house1

The motion activated sprinkler. Works really well, as long as you have a hose pipe.

Thanks for your replies, I've decided to go with a physical barrier 😊0

I did a few things which eventually worked in a smallish area.I used dried dead walflower stems that are multi branch and stuck them around the edge, pebbles in bare ground and the easiest was cheap kids 'windmills' that you buy for sandcastles or the big fancy ones from Poundland and such. The movement seems to be off putting. It's kind of useful to know how hard the wind is blowing before you go out too
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

I’ve resorted to putting holly twigs as a disincentive every time I find a new patch.
Little barstewards even went in the pot I was growing potatoes in.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
I kept lemon rinds, used coffee and onion ends and whizzed them up and spread round the edges of the soil. Kept the cats and foxes away for a week or two.working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0

@Farway has the best approach, a physical barrier is really the only way.
Try old canes dotted around like lollipops or making a 'cage' around the area with closely arranged canes, those wire covered metal plant supports are good too - both methods i've used with complete success.
If there's no access, to the area/spot' it can't happen 👍1 -
Get your own cat, preferably a big gnarly tom - it will spend its days and nights repelling all other feline interlopers, whilst making its own territorial “deposits” in your neighbours cats territory!2
