Flexible Furlough but no pay

Hi
My wife was furloughed like the rest of us over the lockdown, when we came out of lockdown she agreed to being put on "Flexible Furlough". She normally works 18 hrs a week, and has been given 18 hrs for the last couple of months with no issues. Last week she was given 0 hrs (she is on a zero hrs contract, just like myself), and her pay for last week was £0.
Comparing it to me she surely should have been paid via the furlough scheme for last week? If I compare her situation to mine I am currently on Flexible Furlough and do approx 16 - 20 paid hrs a week and the remainder shortfall is made up via the furlough scheme.
Why has she not received any pay?
Many thanks
Derek

I think there’s probably too many assumptions in your post, “my wife was furloughed like the rest of us over lockdown” & “comparing it to me she surely should have been paid via the furlough scheme” the problem with that is furlough was entirely a discretionary scheme. Firms could choose to furlough whoever they wanted (provided they fitted the criteria) they could equally choose to furlough only some or none of the workforce. There’s no point comparing actions taken by separate employers.
the harsh truth is with the original furlough scheme getting more expensive & ending next week more & more people will find themselves in that position. How long has she worked for them for? Did she work a regular amount of set hours?0 -
She was originally furloughed and signed an agreement to that effect, then they sent her another agreement for the "Flexible" furlough schem which she also signed, they have not said anything to her about taking her off any furlough scheme. A few weeks ago they acually "forgot" to pay her anything for hrs she had actually worked and blamed it on the "Pay Clerk", which make me think the same thing might have happened this time, we will see when she goes back to work tomorrow.
