Problem Tenneant

Hello All

I am after some advice i live in a coverted house with the ground floor and first floor flat. The first floor flat is rented out and we have a communal door with a lock. I have spoken twice to the tennet upstairs in relation to keeping the communal door locked at all times. When her friends come round they are always leaving it open and today whils i was working from her home one her freinds came round and started ringing my bell and started questioning me why the door was locked and was very rude to me! I am not to sure what to do. I think the tennet upstairs is a placement from the council and i am not to sure what to do about this. Do you know who i complain to? I know it seems quite trivial but we are going away over xmas and if they are going to keep the door always wide open then security could be comprimised. Yasmin

  • your writing is sooo big, it hurts my eyes!!

I'm not sure what you can do really... she wants to leave the door open for her friends to get in and you want it closed for security... mm. unless there is something in the lease about keeping the door locked I'm not sure. Have you left a polite note on the door reminding people to lock the door? Sometimes it is just forgetfulness. Other than that just improve the locks on your door and get a friendly neighbour to check in over the xmas period.
  • Maybe you could speak to your landlord about changing the door for one which can't be left open? You know, the springy ones which shut automatically. Good luck
