I have a samsung S8 phone since January 2018.  For the last few months every call I take; the receiver says they cannot hear me i.e. as someone said "it sounds like you are in a hole/tunnel".  I have no issues hearing the receiver.  I have done some troubleshooting today.  I have tried disabling apps; deleting caches; cleaning the microphone hole etc.  Nothing worked.  Therefore I bit the bullet and factory reset the phone after backing it up.  This made no difference.   If I enable the speaker (so everyone around me can hear the receiver) then all is ok.  If I record a video then the sound is perfect.

I would be grateful for any suggestions from a technical perspective? Has anyone experienced this before?

Silly question maybe but have you peeled the protective plastic off the front?

Yeah, I have had the phone for over two years.

OP - I had the same problem with a  different phone and my guarantee ran out. The Samsung store offered to replace the microphone costing £40. But due to Covid the Samsung said the guarantee will run for another 3 months, so I got the microphone fixed for nothing. 😀

I am in the same position.  My guarantee ended at the end of August, but they said they have extended it for three months (I didn't realise this was due to Covid).  Did your phone work as normal in speaker mode before the microphone was replaced?
