Voluntary redundancy rejection

Hi all,
I was recently offered a voluntary redundancy package which on my asking also included a quote to take early retirement. On receipt of the figures i responded within the agreed timeframe accepting the offer. I have since been told that my request has been rejected citing a need to retain my skills. At no time was anyone given a figure of how many people would need to go or that the decision would depend on a persons skills. They offered, i accepted, they rejected. Just wondered if anyone had idea where i stand Any help much appreciated

You stand (or sit if appropriate) at your work station. Nothing has changedIf you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0

Although if they need your skill set that much and you're closing in on retirement, you may want to work on an exit plan and as part of that see if you can negotiate a better current salary deal for you. Perhaps a chance to get a part-time contract etc if that's what you may want in retirement.0

As noted, VR is entirely at the discretion of the employer. I am going through the same process just now and won't be comfortable until I have the contract countersigned by my employer and in my sweaty palm.0
