Blackvue dashcam failed at 14 months

I bought a front/rear blackvue dash cam at Halfords and had it fitted - all was working fine for over a year.
At 14 months (and only 5,500 mile) the rear camera is no longer recording. Halfords have a had a look - they think the rear camera needs replacing but will not provide a new one under warranty as they only provide a 12month warranty.
I have written to Blackvue, as sugegsted by Halfords and quoted UK and EC consumer rights legislation that provides a 2yr warranty. The company "Blackvue" claim that they are neither the manufacturer or the reseller, and therefore have no obligations toward me (curious position given it is a Blackvue system
) . Blackvue are offering to "assist me to gett it repaired". It is unclear what "assist" actually means in this context.

I am not against them repairing the camera(s) under warranty. But this feels like a process to tell me that I need a new part and here is the price?
Any views. Is Halfords on the hook? should I co-operate with Blackvue and see if they will fix the camera that they don't manufacture free-of-charge?

There's no harm in trying to work with Blackvue but if you push too hard, they can just ignore you.0 -
The 'EU two year warranty' is not what you think it is. our CRA actually allows 6 years for a claim, so far and above the 'EU and UK legislation' you are referring to in an attempt to get a resolution. However, if you had read it properly instead of just seeing 'two year warranty' and sending that to Blackvue, you would have seen that after 6 months you may be required to show that the fault is inherent... You would have also seen that your rights are against the retailer.0

I am pleased to report that Blackvue have just clarified that "assist" does mean that they will repair/replace free-of-charge. For this I am very grateful and very pleased that we have found a way forward. Thanks for the comments.2
