**Recently purchased vehicle**

Options
Hi all,
I recently went to a car dealership and put a deposit down on a vehicle. I am part exchanging my current vehicle and have paid the difference but waiting for my original logbook to be sent to me to complete the deal. The vehicle I have purchased is still with the dealership as I cannot drive it away without the correct documents for my current car. I have since found very bad reviews about the car dealership and they have been on bbc1 'The sheriff's are coming' which I have just found this out recently. I have not signed any form of paperwork with themselves and paid the amount in cash. If I decide to change my mind and not go ahead with this deal am I contracted to anything with them and does anybody know what legal action I can take if I was to ask for my money back?

Thanks

Alan

If you havent signed anything, and have no paperwork whatsoever, and you paid in cash, I wouldnt hold out much hope of getting anything back if you cancel.

    What amount are we talking

I wouldnt be buying anything from anyone who has been on that programme
why dont you have your logbook (v5 )

How much deposit did you pay?
    Did you get a receipt?
I doubt you will get the deposit back, but may be able to walk away from the deal with nothing more.
Is there any paperwork with terms and conditions?

Yeah, OP.  Next time, make sure you don't buy anything from someone who is going to appear in a programme that you haven't seen yet.  It's just so obvious.

What’s the betting the OP could have googled the dealer and found that info before they paid the deposit. They obviously found out shortly afterwards.

Did the dealer state that the deposit was refundable? If not, no chance.
I find it hard to believe that you paid a deposit without so much as a receipt?
Yes, you are contracted to buy the car, but with only a verbal agreement, they are hardly likely to pursue you for the balance owing, they'll just happily retain your deposit.
