The majority of people have  to pay tax and without tax we would have anarchy and no hospitals, schools , police, etc ( or social housing )

Amh11 I am wondering if you are getting any means-tested benefits, as you mentioned social housing. If you are, you may need to inform DWP (or the local authority for Council Tax support of Housing Benefit ) about your inheritance - change of circumstances. It may mean you are no longer entitled to your benefit. I don't want to jump  to conclusions though, not knowing all your circumstances, so just flagging this up.
