dental implants

i had to have dental implants after an accident at work, insurance paid for it but after getting them done ive now got a lisp, others hear it but my dentist said he doesnt and the only option is he takes them back out and puts a denture in or makes a little pallet to put to the top of my mouth, ive read badly placed dental implants or if they are too long can cause a lisp.i cannot afford to take on a private dentist and dont know if i would be successful in getting the speech impediment i now have rectified considering the dentist is saying there is nothing he can do

How long have you had the implants?  I can't speak from experience of implants but when I've had dental work that meant a change in the shape inside my mouth, it takes a while for your tongue to "learn" it's way round. Things like new fillings or crowns can feel very oversized when they're first done, because your tongue and opposing teeth have got used to them not being there. Might this be the same?

The implants can't be too long, you must be talking about the crowns.

You can go somewhere else and ask for a second opinion but I doubt you're right here.

    Almost certainly the same thing.
  • hi it would be the crowns that are maybe too long, or possibly not straight .i've had them in place since just before lockdown i did send him an email telling him about the lisp and the crowns were very crooked and long he got me back at the start of Sep and took them out and sent them away to be slightly shortened ,he replaced them a bit straighter, though still not very straight. The lisp is my main concern and i just want that rectified .

Agreed.  Is the insurance claim still open - they may be able to advise if any follow-up treatment is covered under the same claim.
