Natwest Credit card closed

I upped my NatWest credit card payments via pay down plan. Then was told my credit card would be closed even though I haven't missed any payments and was doing what was asked to comply with the 'persistent debt' rule. I thought banks had been told by the FCA not to close accounts for people increasing their payments. Can anything be done to reopen my account now?

Nope. They see you as a risk and are reducing their liabilities.  Given you clearly have a balance on there, using it to spend should never have been in your thinking anyway.
  • If your salary and credit rating warrants it - there is nothing stopping you trying another card lender.
Only you know the state of your financial affairs - it may not be a good idea if you have been in persistent debt with Nat West.
