Unknown “Specialist lending” direct debit

Hi all I’m a new member and couldn’t find anything using the search function. I’ve had an unknown direct debit and called the company (a mortgage company) who said it was not connected to them. I stopped it via my bank but it’s now showing on my credit file.  Does anyone have any experience with this? Any advice would be appreciated!

I'm guessing this company may very well provide finance for several other "Interest Free Credit" offers from various companies as well - have you bought something on interest free credit in recent times ?

Think they need to proof-read their terms before publishing them :
"***Could we add the Finance Calculator from Duologi? If it is possible Please contact Duologi ****"   :)

That's who the finance is from, Duologi : https://duologi.com/
Maybe call them, see if they can shed any light (assuming that's what the "Specialist Lending" thing is)

"Duologi is a trading name of Specialist Lending Ltd which is a limited company registered in the UK under number 10664999 at the registered address 10 Bressenden Place, London, SW1E 5DH, United Kingdom. Authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority."

I actually worked for Duologi. It is a fully legit company, registered name Specialist Lending Ltd. but trading as "Duologi". (hence reference for Specialist Lending Ltd!)

Duologi provides finance solutions for merchants. If you are familiar with Klarna (better known name), Duologi is not that far apart, one of its activity directions is RPOS (retail point of sale) finance solutions.

One of the directions of Duologi was providing finance to Purple Bricks estate agency, which used Duologi to get their business fees in case people want to spread it. In this case you may well get a Direct Debit from Duologi, who will aim to collect the fee.

If you just stop the Direct Debit willy-nilly, next time the Direct Debit is to be collected it will fail, the required payment list will be compared to actual payment lists, the account will be deemed in arrears and here is where your problems will start, up to hurting credit rating and eventually -- after quite a few failed attempts to collect the debt and sort things out amiably, -- your debt can even be passed to collectors (CARS).

The right way to sort this is to call Duologi and ask information, first of which is who has used Duologi to get their finance. Big chances are, it is a legit collection like Purple Bricks fee, or legal help provider fee, or something else. Worry not, if the collection is not legit, everything will be sorted to your best hopes, and if it is legit, they will help to re-establish the Direct Debit and deal with your debt.

Duologi phone number is 0345 521 1881; when calling, please be patient and don't give up!

    Kind regards

Exactly, Duologi (trading name for Specialist Lending Ltd) is a RPOS finance provider, there are lots of merchants who use Duologi finance to allow people to buy now and pay later, either via 0% credit or otherwise.

If you have Direct Debit from them, big chances are, Duologi was used to finance some action -- retail sale, estate agent fee or legal provider fee for example.

To just kill the Direct Debit without understanding why it was created, is a really bad idea, basically just swiping the problem under the carpet instead of brushing it into a dustpan.

    Kind regards

Of course. But the information may be useful for other people who will come across this thread with the same question.

The company is still very much active, and judging by TrustPilot reviews, there are still a lot of people who regretfully don't understand what Duologi are, what they do, and how they came into their life.

This response is for these people mostly.
