  • Thank you for all your advice, its been greatly appreciated. I have spoken to sky today and have been offered a free sky q box with no contract, installation fee or extra cost on my package and a deduction off my bill due to the fault so will give that a go as my dish is in such a difficult position to reach and everything else has failed to work and after putting up with this intermittently for 4 months now I just want to be able to watch and record tv. Regards vicki x

Sounds good.  When the engineer comes tell him to fit a dual LNB and run 4 leads back to your boxes. Then he can connect your new Q box and the old HD+ box to the LNB.  That way you will still be able to use a sat. box if/when you leave Sky and you can use the HD+ box as a receiver. You won't be able to see recordings though.

Think you mean a Hybrid LNB which will then work on the Sky Q box as well as the old Sky+HD box.

Either way they will say no. They do not provide them anymore (even if you offer to pay). Freesat boxes are now compatible anyway. I expect tv's will vbe soon enough.

Well the Sky guy who came to us Feb. supplied one at no extra charge when we changed from Sky HD+ to Q.

The default and company position is to install the wideband LNB, which makes it only usable on Sky Q.
If you ask the engineer nicely enough and feed them enough tea and biscuits to sink a battleship, it will ultimately be up to them whether they install the hybrid or not.
Remember they've come to install Sky Q.  How they install it is ultimately up to them.
