The exact same thing has just happened to my son. Car_54 advice seems the most straightforward. Should he simply amend to his driving licence address in the online form as it says something to effect that this will be checked. Then update his V5 after the speeding matter is resolved? Or is it really OK to nominate yourself as the offender?
Why would he need to wait before changing his V5C address? Any future correspondence about the alleged offence will be sent to whatever address he gives now.
And he's only nominating himself as the driver, not admitting the offence.
Many thanks for replying, it's much appreciated. His main concern is that in updating his address on the online form for the speeding offence he will be fined heftily for out-of-date V5.
The only requirement for the V5C address is that it's one where the RK can be contacted readily. Clearly it is, or he wouldn't have got the NIP.
