Weighing scales

What sort of scales do people use for weighing their items? 

Any recommendations?

OH, back in my study now and mine are Abcon Postship , I can't find my exact ones but they are like this except mone have a maximum capacity of 751b / 34kg. Mine were bought about 10 years ago from Costco so have probably been updated since!

I use cheap kitchen digital ones, great unless you need to fine tune the weight of your letters / parcels

I do need to fine tune my items as I sell a lot of large letter items and many are on the 100g border , so I need to know if they are 95g or 105g. I also sell multiples and again need to make sure exactly how many can go in the same envelope before I breach the 100g. My kitchen scales can be off by 5 grammes or more And only went up to about 2 kg (I don’t bake a lot!) so would not be suitable. When I did use kitchen scales I also found I was using an awful lot of batteries, my new ones are run via an electric plug so suit me well.

Mine are Abcon Postship just like soolin's, which I bought on ebay about a year or so ago.  I found my kitchen scales were just not reliable for parcels as often I'd get to the post office only to find out what was under 2k on kitchen scales was actually over 2k on the proper scales at post office & would cost a heck of a lot more to post. No more such errors now I have decent scales, thankfully so I consider them a good investment.

I also send a lot around 100g mark, however my kitchen scale is generic, probably chinese one 🤣 I've seen Post Office's scale weighting my item and its +5g extra most of the time. So I decided to add 10g extra every time I put weight into the form when buying labels, that way I am always covered. And I weight before I print the label (and stick it with sellotape), so there is always extra weight of that, which is now being covered.

I have a very cheap set of kitchen scales going up to 2kg which I find are very accurate, no more than 2g error.  Using rechargeable batteries makes it economical.  For heavier items I use a hanging scale putting the parcel in a laundry bag or making a temporary loop with parcel tape if it's too big.  I've no idea how accutate it is but this is less of an issue using carriers.  Both of these cost well under £10 each.

I have got 2 sets of cheap kitchen scales, 2Kg and 5Kg.  I usually write the weight on the parcel and it is always spot on what the PO scales show.
