Stapling stair runner

Whilst I applaud that you are keen to tackle this yourself given the difficulties of cutting and fixing on winders I would get a professional in. Straight stairs are not an issue but would you be prepared for an potential accident to happen if carpet came loose through regular use?0

Or would stair rods work instead?0 -
Unfortunately we are constantly ripping up and replacing bits of carpet due to darling cat weeing on everything (this is an issue we are tackling separately with the help of the vet) so I'd prefer to do it myself, I anticipate that I will need to replace the carpet on individual stairs every now and again.
I am not bothered if it takes me weeks to get it right, I like doing this sort of thing, but I don't want it to be unsafe so I will give it some more thought! Thank you for all the replies, it is much appreciated.0 -
If you are needing to replace individual bits of stair carpet this is going to be a bid dodgy safetywise. A lot will depend on the type of carpet you use as most will work loose from tacks or staples. The most likely to stay put are the ones with hessian backing. And the safest way possibily would be to put only on the treads. Use a good double sided tape plus the fixer. This would allow you to lift and replace easily.
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

I have done it on some stairs I had .. a hand stapler won't be any use .
The sensor lights are so my dog doesn't fall down the stairs .. the brass rods were about 10.00 each and the brass rail was quite expensive . I chose a sisal type runner for its hard wearing properties1
