PPI claim questions (ft. Allay)

Hi, all.
Hope you're all doing okay in these wild times. I'm (still) clueless about a lot of this, so please be gentle! Hoping for some advice from those in the know about PPI and/or the company.
I submitted a PPI claim via Allay in August last year. I know some people have had bad dealings with Allay, given what forum posts I was able to see. I didn't think anything would come of it, and Barclays wrote to me this week to tell me that "...I cannot agree that this PPI policy was mis-sold.". However, they also say that "...your PPI premium included a high level of commission and we will provide you with a refund of...", and enclosed a cheque. Nice!
The questions. As they've said the PPI claim itself wasn't upheld, does this mean (as far as Allay would be concerned) that it's a "no win", therefore "no fee"? Or because they've identified the need for a refund off the back of it, would that still count? I'm assuming that there is still some sort of admin fee either way. I don't want to seem like I'm trying to snake my way out of what I might owe to Allay - the opposite in fact! I just want to be as informed as I can be before I contact them to confirm that the matter is settled.
Also, should I now cancel the PPI policy on my account (as they've said that it's high commission, and that I can)? I've nothing owing on that account, if it matters.
Thanks in advance.

They’ll invoice you for 24% of the Plevin refund, don’t worry about that.
re cancelling the policy, surely that would be your first priority given you’ve just complained about it?helpful tips
it's spelt d-e-f-i-n-i-t-e-l-y
there - 'in or at that place'
their - 'owned by them'
they're - 'they are'
it's bought not brought (i just bought my chicken a suit from that new shop for £6.34)1 -
You'll probably find they have already cancelled the policy as complaining about it shows you don't want it0

I have had a Mortgage PPI claim upheld but what they are offering is substantially lower than I expected, could anyone advise whether I am calculating it incorrectly? The policy was taken out on 20/7/2001 and ended on 5/8/2008, which I am approximating at 85 months. The premium was £76.81 per month and therefore that times 85 months comes to £6528.85 plus interest. Am I wrong?0

What have they said in their letter about the complaint decision? - i.e. have they confirmed it was missold or is their just information about unfair or undisclosed commissions?
For future reference, you should not add your questions to existing threads on unrelated subjects. It creates confusion and is considered bad form as you are taking someone else's questions off topic and your subject could end up dominating the thread leaving the original poster left in the dark.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
